Snake Tails Incursion

On Tuesday 9 March the whole school will be provided with an opportunity to take part in the Snake Tails Reptile Show. The show will deliver an insight into our Australian reptiles through a safe, interactive and fun performance that will create a greater understanding of the role of reptiles in our environment today.

The show will exhibit snakes (poisonous ones kept in tamper proof boxes for visual recognition) and the students will have an opportunity to interact with harmless pythons, lizards and turtles.

Each session will be tailored to meet the needs of students in each stage.

Kindergarten will focus on the basic needs of reptiles and changes that affect them. Students will be able to identify that living things have basic needs and suggest how daily and seasonal changes in the environment affect them and other living things.

Stage One will concentrate on growth and development of reptiles as well as environmental affects in more detail so students should be able to describe the features of and the ways in which living things grow and change, and how living things depend on places in their environment to meet their needs.

Stage Two will focus on life cycles, food chains and distinguishing features of reptiles.

Stage Three will look at the survival of Australian reptiles, their environments along with detailed structural features of reptiles.

If you would like your child to participate in this incursion please complete the form and return to your child’s teacher by Wednesday 3 March. Payment of $8.00 per child to be made via POP (via school website) or EFTPOS.
