The Week 8 newsletter sees a return to the double page format of newsletters. The change was made after representations to the P&C and feedback from parents. The week fortnightly time frame will continue until the end of the term. Whilst on communication we continue to fine tune our use of the Skoolbag app. We are currently looking at trying to have more targeted notifications. There is scope to receive only notifications that affect a particular stage of students rather than blanket coverage messages. A school face book page and new website are just around the corner which will assist greatly in our ability to communicate in this online era.
Grandparent's day will be Friday 3 August and will follow the very successful formula of previous years. This date will not clash with the district athletics carnival and will front onto Education week. The schools Athletics Carnival will once again be a joint exercise with Kingscliff High School. The school would like to acknowledge the considerable work that Kingscliff High School does in training students to be officials at this event. The carnival will be held on the Thursday 5 July. Please highlight these dates in your calendar.
Building work continues next door with extensive work around piling for foundations, drainage and modifications to essential services that are located underground. The school will get a lift which involves considerable planning. Last week on Thursday the state government announced that all new buildings were coming with air conditioning. Fingers are crossed that this includes Pottsville Beach Public School.
The school was pleased to receive a brand new tent on Wednesday. This tent will be used at school functions and be taken to sporting carnivals and events. The tent was kindly donated to the school by Robin O'Rourke. Robin has also contributed towards some new goal posts which will be placed in the playground in the coming weeks. The school would like to thank Robin for her generosity and support.
