Thank you to the parents who accessed the online survey to have their voice heard. We will look over the results and feedback to the next P&C meeting Tuesday 4 June 2019.
Special thanks to all the amazing volunteers who helped organise this fabulous Mother’s Day celebration at the school.
Now that most of the building works are complete, we are looking very closely into school organisation, procedures and practices. You will over the next few weeks see small changes, so please watch this space: Newsletter and SKOOLBAG for notifications and updates.
An important reminder to all families for the safety of your children:
- Please ensure your children are at school NO earlier than 8.30am unless booked in at Camp Australia or as part of a school organised event. There is no teacher supervision until 8.30am – Lets minimise unnecessary accidents. Thank you
- NO parking in the staff carpark. The carpark is available for Camp Australia pick up after 4pm.
Our Year 3 and Year 5 learners have successfully completed NAPLAN tests this week. The results of these tests should arrive at school near the end of Term 3. While NAPLAN gives us a snapshot of how each child in Australia is performing in specific areas of literacy and numeracy, it is important to know that they do not assess all of what makes our children exceptional and unique. “The people who create and score these tests don’t know that some of our learners love to sing, are good at drawing or can teach others how to use a computer program. They have not seen the way that some of them can dance with style, play basketball skilfully or speak confidently to a large group. They do not know of the friendships they count on to be there for them when they are sad. They do not know that Pottsville Beach PS learners participate in all sorts of other activities, that they help their Mum and Dad or look after their brother or sister. They do not know that our learners are caring, thoughtful and that every day they reach towards a new challenge. So when NAPLAN results do arrive, please remember that there is no single way to ‘test’ all of the wonderful things that make our children who they are.
Have a wonderful week.
