The BOUNCE BACK! Wellbeing & Resilience Program addresses the environmental building blocks and the personal skills for fostering resilience in children and young people. The program focuses mainly on the teaching of coping skills to help children and young people respond positively to the complexity of their everyday lives. In other words, children are taught how to ‘bounce back’ after experiencing sadness, difficulties, frustrations and hard times.

CIRCLE TIME
Circle Time is a teaching strategy which allows the teacher to explore issues of concern. Also, it allows children to explore and address issues which concern them. It provides a structured mechanism for solving problems, in which all participants have an equal footing. Circle Time affords the opportunity for the teacher and class to communicate with each other about issues which promote self-esteem and positive behaviour.

In Week 8 we will commence our journey into Circle Time/Bounce Back. These programs are part of our Student Wellbeing journey and are being implemented to support our new Behaviour and Merit initiatives at Pottsville Beach Public School.
What is Circle Time/Bounce Back?
Circle Time/Bounce Back will provide an authentic opportunity to build on our P.B.P.S school community by providing connections and to allow student voice to be heard consistently in a supportive and safe environment.
How will Circle Time/Bounce Back be implemented at Pottsville Beach Public School?
Each even week, Circle Time/Bounce Back lessons will be Teacher Led in class groups.
Each odd week, Circle Time/Bounce Back will be Student Led – during these lessons our Year 5 and 6 student leaders will run their individual circles consisting of students from K-6. During these Circle Time sessions student leaders will give opportunities to their Circle Time group learners for connection and discussion about a range of topics. This term these Circle Time/Bounce Back lessons will focus on the new Anti-Bullying initiatives that have been designed by the NSW Department of Education.
